Age Discrimination In The Workplace

The issue of age discrimination in the workplace is one which is determined by federal laws. In the case of age discrimination, any employer who denies promotion, benefits, employment and things of that nature due to a person's age may be in violation of federal law. Age discrimination may at times be disguised as a decision which is based on things such as experience, education and even dependability. However, in the case that an employer is found to have discriminated a person based on their age that person may have ground to take legal action against that company. Age discrimination can also take place during the hiring process, even when the job is merely being advertised. In such cases as the hiring process are concerned, employers would not be able to ask any questions which may suggest that the hiring decision would be dependent upon the applicant's age. Of course, in cases where the employer is checking to find out if the person is legally old enough to perform certain duties exceptions can be made.
