Contract For Employment

In virtually all modern workplaces, some form of employment agreement is reach between a prospective worker and employer, which is recorded in some documentable form. Obviously, this contract for employment will specifically outline the terms of one's employment and other fringe benefits, however, a number of other documents can provide workers more benefits that are not specifically mentioned in their employment contract per se. For example, company manuals, handbooks, or memos may legally-speaking set a companywide precedent by affording some workers certain benefits or protections. If other workers were denied these benefits, a clear case of discrimination or employment breach of contract could be made. Additionally, even verbal agreements or other assurances in help-wanted ads can be construed as terms of an employment agreement, which if an employer breaches, could result in litigation.
