Disability Law Center

The federal government, through the Americans with Disabilities Act and other legislation, has provided disabled workers with special assistance to protect their legal rights by facilitating at least one disability law center in most states. Though each state has discretion in the implementation of these programs, the federal government mandates these centers exist to assist disabled individuals in finding employment opportunities, ensuring their legal rights are protected, and finding income assistance for disabled workers per the programs offered by state and federal level disability programs. However, disability initially referred to persons with some form of physical limitation, recent legislation and legal precedents have come to recognize psychological and other mental disorders as a bona fide disability, which permits them access to a disability law center among other things. Some notable instances of disabilities include alcohol and drug addiction survivors, which can receive special assistance and funding while attempting to reorganize their lives following rehabilitation and recovery.
