Employment Benefits Insurance

Employment benefits insurance, which are also known as fringe benefits, are employer-provided or employer-facilitated insurance coverage for their qualifying employees. In many cases, employment benefits insurance will include provisions for general medical care, emergency medical care, dental, optical, and other insurance benefits, such as life, disability, and other unemployment insurance coverage plans. Employers are not required by law to offer employees any form of insurance benefits in the U.S., however, it is traditional and still occurs in some fashion in over half of U.S. companies. Employers, if they do offer benefits, cannot discriminate against any employees during the administration of benefits. In addition, employers typically facilitate or partially pay for insurance coverage at discounted group rates through an insurance carrier. In times of benefits claims by employees, employers, at the behest of their insurance providers, may dispute claims or deny other legitimately claimed benefits.
