Employment Discrimination Cases

Employment discrimination cases involve instances where an employer has violated a person's civil rights in some way. Such discrimination may be due to issues concerning the person's race, color, age, sex, religion, national origin or even reasons regarding disabilities or pregnancy. Employment discrimination is not limited to the manner in which a company treats an employee; it can also take place during the hiring and recruiting process. For instance, interviewers are restricted from asking any questions which may pertain to the potential employee's race, color, religion, disabilities or any of the other reasons which would constitute a civil rights violation. Other restrictions during the hiring process would be in the way that an ad is worded or the way that a person is treated in regards to being granted an interview. Discrimination against employees can also include: denial of certain benefits, denial of promotions, imposing of unfavorable or unfair working conditions and wrongful termination. In the case that an employer is considered to have violated a person's civil rights, class action lawsuits may be filed by the victim of the discrimination.
