Fire Pension

The police and fire pension is a retirement program designed for police and fire officials. In the United States, each state has its own state mandated police and fire pension system. The system is overseen by trustees that are typically retired or longstanding members of the police and fire communities. With a fire pension, a firefighter secures retirement benefits that include annuity payments until death and certain health insurance services. The benefits offered through a fire pension depend upon the state in which the pension plan is established. Most pension programs offer members free financial counseling services to assist employees in preparation for retirement.
