Job Safety Analysis

All companies want to protect their workers for two reasons: 1. They truly care about their employees. 2. They want to avoid lawsuits and higher insurance premiums that come with workplace accidents. A job safety analysis (JSA) helps companies evaluate their safety standards for all types of jobs from mowing the grass to asbestos inspections. The Florida Environmental Protection Division outlined what a job safety analysis should include: Careful study and recording of each step of a job, Identifying potential or existing job hazards generated by equipment or employee actions, Determining most efficient way to reduce or eliminate hazards. Some job safety issues cannot be addressed through a job safety analysis. According to a report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 11 percent of all on-the-job deaths in 2007 were from homicide. Companies are addressing security issues to reduce this number in the future.
