Ohio labor law is typically defined via either Ohio labor codes or Ohio occupations and professions code. Additionally, Ohio Labor Law must adhere to the guidelines, laws, and legislation protecting workers' rights created at the federal level as well. States, however, are given wide discretion in setting various other employment laws, which the federal government has declined to address. This being said, Ohio is no exception to having varied employment laws on a number of topics. Some notable differences in Ohio employment law from other states include the state law prohibiting employers from accessing or inquiring about sealed or expunged arrest records. Additionally, employers in the state of Ohio must facilitate the continuation of health care coverage for all eligible, previously insured employees at the time of termination for at least six months for the employee and their dependants.
