Sample Employment Contracts

A sample employment contract is a type of contract that describes the rights and responsibilities of an employer and employee. It includes the length of employment, a description of the employee's job duties and responsibilities, the compensation offered to the employee, grounds for termination, a confidentiality agreement, a non-competition clause, intellectual property rights, and a dispute settlement mechanism. Employment contracts are often verbal; in these situations, there may be an oral agreement between the employer and employee. If there is neither an oral or written agreement, their behavior can be viewed as an implied employment contract. Sample employment contracts also outlines and lists the number of vacation and sick days offered to the employee. An employment contract is a legally binding and valid contract and subject to the same challenges to enforceability as other contracts. It is important to negotiate an employment contract before it is signed.
