I recently fell and injured myself at work. What are my rights in this situation?

Question: I recently fell and injured myself at work.  What are my rights in this situation?

Response by Tomek Pilch: First, you should make sure you are receiving your worker’s compensation benefits as addressed by state compensation laws, and any other benefits that injured workers are allotted under your company’s policy. If you are not receiving these benefits then first check with your employer to make sure it is not just an error in receiving the benefits. If you continue to be denied your worker’s compensation benefits then it may be time to seek legal help.

In this case a lawyer can make sure that you receive the worker’s compensation benefits that you are entitled to. Also, if you suspect that the company was at fault for your injury a lawyer can counsel you on whether or not you have a legitimate personal injury claim against your employer.
