In California, the Employment Development Department implements the benefits law and oversees unemployment benefits. Typically, you receive unemployment benefits for as long as you are eligible by meeting a number of set conditions. One such condition is as follows: "Any week during which he or she performs no services and with respect to which no wages are payable to him or her." (CA Unemployment Insurance Code Section 1251-1265.9) The main question to ask is if the reactivation of your Real Estate license would constitute a violation of the Unemployment Insurance Code's conditions. You may contact an Employment attorney in California to further discuss your case.
