There is construction going on at work that I feel is risky. Are there any workplace safety laws for this?

I work at a local hardware store that is independently owned. They have been doing quite a few renovations and constructions to the store during store hours. There is a lot of loud drilling noises that causes discomfort to my ear, and I feel like its rather dusty in certain parts of the stores that are near the construction, in which employees have to go in order to clock out and go to the breakroom. Is this against workplace safety laws? Is there anything I can do?

Federal and State workplace health and safety laws require all employers to provide safe health & safety at work. If you feel that the environment is unsafe and it is causing you discomfort, you should first speak to your direct manager or the owner of the building.

If no action is taken, then you can consult with OSHA, which sets forth the laws and regulatations for workplace safety.
