Kansas School Superintendent Files Wrongful Termination Lawsuit

July 17, 2009

The superintendent of a Kansas School District is suing the district and school board for wrongful termination. According to his suit, he was fired in retaliation for failing to falsify documents, regarding the retirement benefits of his precursor. The school board asked him to provide false documentation that the superintendent worked fewer than 550 hours during one school year.

The school board forced the superintendent to resign, causing him embarrassment, emotional distress, lost income, and expenses incurred in relocating and searching for a new job. All of which, he is asking for in the settlement. He left the exact amount up to the discretion of the judge.

Many of the administrators in the district have come under fire for improper spending of school funds, excessive spending on dinners, travel, and alcohol on the part of the school board members.
